InBev, Casablanca, and a Word That Rhymes With Rhyme

July 3rd, 2008

So today I finished my

first OnSite.  The rest of the team will be getting it web ready.

Whoever they are lol  The thing I least like about this particular mag is that I am kind of forced (not by the organization) to use stock/supplied photos.  The reason being is I don’t live a mile from a Sudanese hut.  (Front cover is to the left)

“Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”

Ah. So catch this.  They are shutting down the Chrysler minivan plant here in town (it’s next to the big truck plant seen here to the right).  So it looks like GMC isn’t the only one in the red.  It will be sad to see how much good ol’ gateway to the west’s economy will be funneling downward if we lose that bid Boeing’s trying to get (down with Northrop…read it here) and AB sells itself to InBev (which supposedly isn’t happening now).  All that added on top of a major plant closing.  Honestly, if the plant did close it would be a great place for photography if one could sneak in, but I would never trespass. ;-)  (Michael and Marcus R. that ones for you.)

A new Call of Duty is in the works.  I pray to God it matches the strength of the last.  It will be completely depressing, like watching Grey’s Anatomy at your g/f’s apartment (sorry babe).  In this game they are going to create an awesome Co-op based on player’s ranks.  That’s nice.  Hopefully I will sleep at night.

Right now I’m in the middle of working on a film for Nate and his Kerygma.  I would love to show you some of the video but I’m too lazy to convert the files into AVI.  I apologize.  Maybe in a couple of weeks I’ll upload the finished product on here.

Still reading Blue Like Jazz.  I only read a chapter or two yesterday.  I still have three chapters left.  It’s not bad to pace, so don’t rush me.  I’ll give you a synopsis of my final read in a couple of posts…or maybe the next one, depending on how generous I feel.

You rock my world.

Mario plays the flute. . .

So I recently was told about this amazing author Donald Miller (http://www.donaldmillerwords.com) and I seriously never read unless it is some form of article I can find on the internet or in a mag/paper.  I bought theBlue Like Jazz book on Sunday and I have not stopped reading….I’m on Chapter 15 and have less than a hundred pages left.  Wow.  I know, I should be in a reader program.  Sometimes I still wish I was in that Pizza Hut program.  I love pizza!   Back to Don:  Well this guy is so unique, his writing style is very informal as if he were talking to you, and a lot of the things he discussed, his concepts on politics, ideology, but mainly, for me, religion were really challenging.  The book I am reading is called “Blue Like Jazz,” in it Don describes moments, testimonies, situations, and ideas he has gathered through, well, I guess you’d want to refer it as his “spiritual” journey.  I’d admit Don is a lot more liberal than me, but sometimes I think a good liberal could help loosen up your world, definitely the feeling I got from him.  His feelings, emotions, and thoughts about Christ, life, and perspective on social issues were internally cataclysmic.  Big words, I know.  This guy is a true inspiration and impact on my thoughts today and yesterday and the day before and I’m sure will be in the future.  If you have some spare time, read it.

Who would have thunk it, but my friend Jeff has Mario Bro.’s from back in ‘93.  I roared with delight when I saw it on his shelf!  So I popped it in the Xbox last night, and watched, shockingly, two very familiar actors Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo!  Bob I saw a couple years ago in a Jet Li film called Unbreakable and well John Leguizamo I’ve seen in plenty of films (Day of the Dead for one).

Oh, and Wanted…wow, saw that last weekend, VERY GOOD!  Anyone who has the slightest appetite for a film that delivers gun fights, action, and extreme (sometimes unbelievable) situations should definitely see this film.  It’s phenomenal.

So two Monday’s ago I had a photoshoot with Tim (Jentile) and Gabe again.  This time all the artists from their production company were there, and well it was an evening of laughs and awkward poses.  Here’s a pic from that night:

Anyways, there’s the hash, I need to get back to work…I’ve wasted an hour on here. :-P
